INCI Name: Glycolic Acid
There are five different types of AHA’s: Glycolic, Lactic, Maltic, Citric and Tartaric acid. The most effective type is Glycolic (from sugarcane) because of its ability to penetrate the skin. All forms can be synthetically manufactured or naturally derived from sources such as sugarcane, sour milk and citrus fruits. AHA’s "exfoliate" or unglue" the outer layer of dead skin cells and help increase cell turnover. Similar to Retin-A; they can improve skin texture, colour, unclog pores, diminish fine lines, wrinkles and allow moisturizers to be more readily absorbed by the skin. They can also repair some scarring left by acne giving the skin a more vital and healthy look. In concentrations of 1 to 4%, AHA’s act to moisturize the skin and in higher concentrations they act as exfoliators. Read more...... click below........
